  18. of prescription drugs. Ronald Reagan as a father in emotional
  19. exile from his children. The author of such appalling portraits?
  20. Their long-estranged daughter PATTI DAVIS, in her new
  21. autobiography, The Way I See It. "If I had tried to tell this
  22. story before, it would just have been an angry book," she says
  23. of a work unlikely to be mistaken for a lovefest. Most scathing
  24. is the depiction of Nancy Reagan, famous for her antidrug "Just
  25. Say No" campaign, as a lifelong pill popper. Says Davis: "I saw
  26. it as an act of denial and a cry for help." The Reagans issued
  27. a statement insisting that "the charges of physical mistreatment
  28. and substance abuse . . . are absolutely false."
